Research Associate Professor, 2000-present. Great Plains/Rocky Mountains Hazardous Substance Research Center, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas. Projects include assessing the environmental impact of non-lethal weapons, developing water quality monitoring systems for rural communities in arid regions, and developing programs to address environmental justice in Native American and Native Alaskan communities. Coordinator for program funded by USAID, USDA, EPA, NSF and the US-Russia Bilateral Committee to promote participation by Native Americans in international exchange programs.

Visiting Associate Professor, Fall 2006. Applied Indigenous Studies, Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona. Taught Ethnobiology, Environmental Justice (ITV course with University of Kansas); Team taught Communication Skills for Applied Indigenous Studies, Introduction to Applied Indigenous Studies. Helped to develop initiative for multi-campus consortium to create online materials for AIS courses.

Science Advisor, 2003-present. Friends of the Kaw/Kansas Riverkeeper, Lawrence, Kansas. Duties include reviewing technical documents and providing expert testimony on environmental impacts; research, writing and website development; grant writing and administration; field surveys and environmental research; public outreach and education.

Associate Editor, 1999-2004. Transactions of the American Fisheries Society. TAFS is the monthly scientific publication of the oldest and largest professional fisheries society in the world, promoting the conservation, development, and wise use of fisheries, science and management policy.
